Dimitris Katsianis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Digital Industry Technologies of the National University of Athens, specializing in the economics of technology, and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE S.A. - GRNET S.A). He is a graduate of the Department of Informatics of the National University of Athens, with a master's degree in Signal Processing and Computer Systems. He has prepared a PhD thesis on "Methodologies for Design and Analysis of Telecommunications Networks with Techno-Economic Criteria" at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National University of Athens. His scientific interest focuses on the economics of technology, broadband issues and the methodological framework for valuing telecommunications investments. Since 1999, he has been a member of the staff of the National University of Athens, where since 2003 he has been teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate programs on technology, microeconomic and techno-economic analysis, costing and pricing, and participating in the planning of the University's development actions. From 2014 to 2022, he was a Senior Researcher at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications. He has worked as a special consultant to telecommunications companies and consultants on issues of Broadband, alternative telecommunications infrastructures, valuation of telecommunications investments, IT as well as on regulatory issues in the field of telecommunications in Greece and abroad. Over the last twenty years, he has worked on the most important projects of the OP of the Greek Telecom and the Greek Telecom SA in relation to the promotion of broadband services and infrastructure in the Greek Territory as well as on important projects at the Hellenic Telecommunications and Telecommunications Authority (EETT) where he also served as Scientific Manager in related projects. He has over 80 publications in journals and conferences on issues of techno-economic analysis, investments and design of telecommunications networks.
